1. Who We Are

Whole Battery Catalog Inc.

1495 Poinsettia Ave, Suite 146, Vista, CA 92081, United States

Email: support@wholebatterycatalog.com

WBC is an EV battery platform offering professional battery testing, a verified marketplace for buying and selling electric vehicle batteries, and Periscope battery testing tools.

WBC was incorporated on October 6, 2025 as a spin-off of its affiliate Smartville Inc.; the two companies are under common ownership and control.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information: Name, email address, username, and password when you create an account
  • Business information: Business name and business type
  • Contact information: Mailing address, phone number, city, state, postal code, and country
  • Payment information: Payment and payout details processed through Stripe (we do not store your credit card numbers - see Section 4)
  • Marketplace listings: Battery descriptions, pricing, images, location, and condition details
  • Communications: Messages, feedback, and any information you provide when you contact us or submit a support request
  • Battery test data: When you run a battery diagnostic, the Periscope hardware captures CAN bus data from the battery and transmits it over Bluetooth Low Energy to the WBC mobile app. The mobile app forwards the raw CAN frames to our streaming backend over a secure WebSocket connection. Our processing service decodes the data into a battery health report containing State of Health, capacity, cycle count, cell voltage distribution, isolation resistance, and pack faults. The decoded report is stored in our PostgreSQL database (Amazon RDS, encrypted at rest) and the original raw CAN log is archived in Amazon S3. Battery test data is associated with the testing vendor's account.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and usage information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and interaction data
  • Authentication data: Login timestamps and session information
  • Bot protection data: Google reCAPTCHA verification tokens
  • Legacy Android Bluetooth scan precondition: On Android 10 and earlier only, the operating system requires a coarse location permission as a precondition for any Bluetooth Low Energy device scan. The WBC mobile app declares this permission with a maximum SDK version of 30, meaning it is only requested on Android 6-10. The app does not derive, store, or transmit your location from the Bluetooth scan; the permission exists solely to satisfy the legacy Android OS-level BLE-scan check. On Android 11 and later, no location permission is requested or used by the WBC app.
  • Stripe Radar fraud-prevention data: When you complete a marketplace checkout, our payment processor Stripe collects device-level signals (including approximate location while the app is open during checkout) to detect fraudulent transactions. We do not see or store this data; it is held by Stripe under their privacy policy.
  • Push notification tokens: With your permission, the WBC mobile app registers a token with Apple Push Notification Service (iOS) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) so we can send you diagnostic-complete and marketplace-message notifications. The token is associated with your account and revoked on logout or uninstall.
  • Mobile install identifier: The Expo and Sentry SDKs generate a per-install identifier used for crash debugging. It is not the iOS Advertising Identifier or Android Advertising ID. We do not collect either advertising identifier.

  • Process transactions, payments, and seller payouts

4. How We Share Your Information

We share your personal information only as described below:

Service Providers

We use trusted third-party service providers to help operate our Services:

  • Stripe - payment processing, seller payouts, fraud prevention via Stripe Radar, and tax calculation
  • Google - reCAPTCHA (bot protection on the web portal) and Maps API (address verification)
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) - cloud hosting, data storage including Amazon RDS and Amazon S3, and email delivery
  • Sentry - application error monitoring, crash reporting, and performance diagnostics; crash reports are not linked to your User ID

These providers only receive the information necessary to perform their services and are contractually obligated to protect your data.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).

Business Transfers

If WBC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

In October 2025, user accounts and associated data were transferred from Smartville Inc. to WBC as part of an intra-group reorganization under common ownership and control. The privacy commitments in effect at the time of original collection continue to apply.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4a. Marketplace Listings and User-to-User Interactions

Battery listings and vendor profiles on the WBC marketplace are user-generated. Other vendors can view your listings, see your business name, and contact you about a transaction. WBC moderates marketplace content as follows:

  • Any vendor may report a listing or another vendor by tapping the Report button in the listing detail or vendor profile (where available in the WBC mobile app), or by emailing safety@wholebatterycatalog.com.
  • Reported content is reviewed by WBC within 24 hours of the report. Listings or profiles found to violate our Terms of Service are removed.
  • Any vendor may block another vendor from contacting them. Blocked vendors cannot send messages and their listings are hidden from the blocking vendor's marketplace feed.
  • WBC does not monitor private communications between vendors except in response to a report.

Vendors retain ownership of their listing content and can edit or remove their listings at any time from within the app.

5. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication, security, and to store your preferences (such as cart contents). We use Google reCAPTCHA for bot protection, which may set its own cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

We do not use advertising or behavioral tracking cookies.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our Services and comply with our legal obligations:

  • Account data is retained for the life of your account plus a reasonable period after closure
  • Transaction records are retained for a minimum of 7 years
  • Battery test data and reports are retained for your ongoing access
  • Support inquiries are retained for the resolution period

When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, and misuse.

8. Your Privacy Rights

All Users

You may access, update, and correct your personal information through your account settings.

To delete your account, open the WBC mobile app and go to Profile > Delete Account, or visit https://wholebatterycatalog.com/delete-account on the web portal. The deletion is scheduled for 30 days after you confirm. During this 30-day grace period your account is suspended, your subscription is cancelled at the end of the current billing cycle, and your marketplace listings are deactivated. You may sign in within the 30-day window and select "Cancel deletion" to restore your account, your subscription, and your listings. After 30 days, your account record, all personal information, all marketplace listings, all battery test data, and all stored battery diagnostic logs are permanently deleted from our PostgreSQL database and our Amazon S3 storage, and your Stripe customer record is detached. We send a confirmation email when deletion completes.

If you require immediate deletion (rather than the 30-day grace), email support@wholebatterycatalog.com with the subject "Immediate Deletion Request" and we will process it within the timelines required by applicable privacy law (45 days under CCPA, 30 days under PIPEDA).

To request a copy of your data, contact us at support@wholebatterycatalog.com.
